Church Gate Collection

Breffni Community Development Company CLG Church Gate Collection will take place on Saturday 23rd of December and Sunday, 24th December 2017 before Mass at St. Mary's Church, Carrick on Shannon. The collection is in aid of the Breffni Building Extension Fund, please support this community project, thank you.

Homework Group

This is a supervised space for young people to get support with their homework. We provide a light snack for all participants as well as some fun activities and games. During school breaks we run activity days. Limited spaces and booking is essential.


Breakfast Club

Breffni Youth Café will be running a Breakfast Club every Monday from 7.45am-8.45am. The cost is €2 euro per person and the school bus operates to and from Breffni Centre.


Drop In Group

This is a group for the 13+ year olds to come and chill out with their peers in a safe and supervised space. The young people also have the opportunity to take part in various programmes and activities as well as use the many facilities which we have to offer e.g. Juke Box, Pool Table, Free wi-fi and much more


Cost if €4 euro per group €15 euro weekly rate. Registration fee is €10 euro (once off payment). Spaces are limited so registration is essential.

Oasis - Breffni Women's Shed is open to ladies of all ages and meets every Friday from 10.00am till 1.00pm at Breffni Family Resource Centre. One Parent Support Group

One Parent Family Support Group

Parenting alone? Feel like you are the only one? Would youlike to speak to other people in a similar situation? If so then come along to our new one parent family support group. You will find friendly faces and listening ears. We would really like to see you here at the Breffni Family Resource Centre, Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturdays from 10.00am till 11.00am. The group will be held on the 1st Saturday of every month. This is a free to attend group.

Food Cloud

Food Cloud helps local businesses redistribute their surplus food to people who need it. Breffni FRC is now taking part in the Food Cloud scheme in Carrick on Shannon every Wednesday in partnership with Tesco Ireland. We have a number of rooms available for low-cost hire to community, statutory and private individuals and organizations.

GP Room: Fit groups of up to 8 people.

Activity Room. Furnished and with WiFi available. Suitable for up to 20 people and perfect for group meetings, planning sessions, workspace or family gatherings. Very reasonable rates.

Breffni Youth Café is the place to be! You can make new friends and join in fun activities. The youth café is for people of 8 years and over and new members can join any time. Parents and Toddler Group

Breffni Parent and Toddler group meet every Monday from 1.00pm to 2.30pm in the Activity Room at Breffni FRC. This is aimed at parents, guardians, carers and minders of children up to the age of four. Call 07196 22566 for more info.

Leitrim Memory Café

The Leitrim Memory Cafe is a safe, relaxed space for people who have Alzheimer’s, dementia or acute confusion, and their carers. Health professionals and volunteers will be available for chats and advice.  The next meeting of the Leitrim Memory Café is on the The last Tuesday of every month from 11am - 1pm

We have two prayer groups that meet weekly: the Charismatic Prayer Group on Monday evenings from 8.30 – 10.00, and the Wednesday Prayer Group meets weekly at 9pm.

Volunteer Appreciation Event

Breffni Walkers

It’s lovely weather for walking. Shake off those winter blues and join the Breffni Walkers for some gentle exercise. They meet on Monday mornings at 10am, outside Breffni Family Resource Centre. Tea and coffee served after the walk. Breffni Walkers is free.

Community Composting Site

If you would like to take part in our Community Composting Programme, disposing of your organic waste at Breffni Family Resource Centre, please give us a call on: 071-9622566. Opening times for the composting site are Tuesday 8am –1pm Thursday 1pm – 5pm Free compost can be collected when available. A once off donation of €5.00 will go towards the scheme. Clothing and Textile Recycling

We now have a textile and clothing recycling bank situated at Breffni Family Resource Centre. A list of items that are recyclable is written on the bank but as a general rule, the following items are suitable:

  • All clothes - including coats, suits, underwear and night clothes
  • Hats, scarves and gloves
  • Belts, braces and handbags
  • All shoes - including boots and slippers
  • All household linen - including tablecloths, sheets and pillowcases, blankets, towels and curtains
  • Any worn out linen or clothing as long as it is clean (no oily or paint covered rags)

All proceeds from the recycling bank will go to Breffni Family Resource Centre so not only are you recycling but you will also be supporting your local community!

Volunteers Wanted for Breffni Youth Café

Breffni Youth Café is a youth organisation located at Breffni FRC which caters for young people aged 8-21 years of age and is open 5 days a week. We are currently looking for someone who can provide adult supervision for groups as well as assist other volunteers/youth workers with planning and group work. Someone who has good common sense with a positive attitude to young people is essential.

Supports for You
You will attend induction training and child protection training. Sharing experiences with and getting support from other leaders and staff. Policies, further training, good practice guidelines and insurance for the role are all provided.

Benefits to You
You will get to know young people, the other leaders and them you. You will develop leadership and facilitation skills and have opportunities to explore the various services in the FRC. You will also get the opportunity to gain some valuable skills which will enhance your C.V. “Volunteers are people from all walks of life, all ages and stages. Evening and Daytime Alternative Therapies

Auricular Acupuncture, Reiki and Meditation in a relaxed group setting every Tuesday from 7.15pm to 8.15pm and every Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm.
Cost: Voluntary Donation.

Particularly effective as a support for those recovering from addictions. No need to book, just come along.
