Breffni Community Development welcomes you all to our service. We have a range of activities, courses and supports on offer. Please drop in to find out more - we're open from 9am - 6pm, and our Community Shop from 9am - 5pm and 6pm - 8pm. Composting Opening Time: Tuesday 8am - 12pm and Thursday 1pm-5pm.

Oasis - Breffni Women's Shed is open to ladies of all ages and meets every Friday from 10.00am till 1.00pm at Breffni Community Development. Activities are varied and inclide woodwork, pyrography, crafts, basic car maintenance, gardening, DIY, therapies, flower arraning and much more. A light lunch is provide each week. Food Cloud

Food Cloud helps local businesses redistribute their surplus food to people who need it. Breffni FRC is now taking part in the Food Cloud scheme in Carrick on Shannon every Wednesday in partnership with Tesco Ireland. We have a number of rooms available for low-cost hire to community, statutory and private individuals and organizations.

GP Room: Fit groups of up to 8 people.

Computer Suite: Contains 8 newly upgraded PCs and is suitable for training sessions.

The Bethany Bereavement Support Group This support group meet the last Thursday of every month from 7pm - 9pm.

Parents and Toddler Group

Breffni Parent and Toddler group meet every Monday from 10.00am to 11.00am in the Activity Room at Breffni FRC. This is aimed at parents, guardians, carers and minders of children up to the age of four. Call 07196 22566 for more info.

Leitrim Memory Café

The Leitrim Memory Cafe is a safe, relaxed space for people who have Alzheimer’s, dementia or acute confusion, and their carers. Health professionals and volunteers will be available for chats and advice.  The next meeting of the Leitrim Memory Café is on the The last Tuesday of every month from 11am - 1pm

We have two prayer groups that meet weekly: the Charismatic Prayer Group on Monday evenings from 7.30 – 9.00, and the Wednesday Prayer Group meets weekly at 9pm - 10pm.

Community Composting Site

If you would like to take part in our Community Composting Programme, disposing of your organic waste at Breffni Community Development, please give us a call on: 071-9622566. Opening times for the composting site are Mon/Tues/Thurs 8.00am - 4.00pm Free compost can be collected when available. A once off donation of €5.00 will go towards the scheme. NO GARDEN WASTE PLEASE

Clothing and Textile Recycling

We now have a textile and clothing recycling bank situated at Breffni Community Development. A list of items that are recyclable is written on the bank but as a general rule, the following items are suitable:

  • All clothes - including coats, suits, underwear and night clothes
  • Hats, scarves and gloves
  • Belts, braces and handbags
  • All shoes - including boots and slippers
  • All household linen - including tablecloths, sheets and pillowcases, blankets, towels and curtains
  • Any worn out linen or clothing as long as it is clean (no oily or paint covered rags)

All proceeds from the recycling bank will go to Breffni Community Development so not only are you recycling but you will also be supporting your local community!

Volunteers Wanted

Volunteers Wanted for Breffni Youth Café

Breffni Youth Café is a youth organisation located at Breffni FRC which caters for young people aged 8-21 years of age and is open 5 days a week. We are currently looking for someone who can provide adult supervision for groups as well as assist other volunteers/youth workers with planning and group work. Someone who has good common sense with a positive attitude to young people is essential.

Supports for You
You will attend induction training and child protection training. Sharing experiences with and getting support from other leaders and staff. Policies, further training, good practice guidelines and insurance for the role are all provided.

Benefits to You
You will get to know young people, the other leaders and them you. You will develop leadership and facilitation skills and have opportunities to explore the various services in the FRC. You will also get the opportunity to gain some valuable skills which will enhance your C.V. “Volunteers are people from all walks of life, all ages and stages.
